Herder-Schule
Die Herder-Schule is located in the beautiful town of Wuppertal in western Germany. The school has a long tradition (140 years to be exact) of educating young students and helping them individually.
The school is named after the great philosopher Johann Gottfried Herder, whose ideas inspired the school in implementing their educational concept. The Herder-Schule may be named after Herder, but Maria Montessori's ideas are just as evident in the school's concept. The students are encouraged to develop an intellectual independence, to be creative, to take the initiative of their own studies, and to assume responsibility in the community. Montessori's conviction that every child wants to learn, as it feels a thirst for education, is ubiquitous at the school. The teachers' position at the Herder-Schule is also different from most schools. They assist their students in finding their paths, instead of being the "omniscient judge".
The school offers a great variety of leisure time activities. In the sports sector, students can choose between football, golf, but also horseback riding and more. Arts and music do not come off badly, either. Neither do other activities, such as gardening or cooking courses. As you can see, every child can find and pursue their passion at the Herder-Schule.
