Hello everyone!
I am a student from Shanghai. I came to Germany to attend a German high school with the help of GEP and to study at a German university. Before arriving in Germany, I had learned German for ten months and laid the foundation. After arriving in Germany, I took a three-month language course. Then I went to the tenth grade at Lindenberg school.

I've been in Germany for several years. During these years I not only improved my German language, but also the independence of my life. I also visited many different cities during the sightseeing tours organized by the Humboldt Institute, which enriched my experience.

When I first came to Germany, the first thing that became clear to me was the cultural difference between China and Germany. Nobody speaks loudly in public areas, except at special times such as festivals or football matches. In that case, people would be partying in the streets and in the pubs. Pets are sometimes allowed to enter markets and parks. Public transport such as trains strictly adhere to the timetable. Even the pedestrians on the street are warm.

Although my habits are a little different from those of the Germans, after a while I was able to adapt. From the point of view of school education, there are also great differences between the education of two countries. In China, students usually finish their homework at 10 or even 11. On weekends, they attend all kinds of prep classes. Some children also have music lessons. In Germany, however, tutoring courses only have to be attended by students who have difficulty understanding the course. Plus, students can take as many courses as they want. Some German students have numerous extracurricular activities. There are various working groups in the German school. Students can join these AGs at will. Some schools organized older students to help younger students with any difficulties they might encounter.

Of all these possibilities, the internship in the ninth grade is the most sensible. At German schools, every pupil in the ninth grade has to complete an internship for one to two weeks. The companies issue certificates for the internship. The students are free to choose the internship so that the students can experience their chosen work. Not only can you get the social experience, but you can also learn more deeply about their interests. Almost no Chinese school does this, but the internship has many advantages.

In my opinion, going abroad means living and studying in another country. Not only do you improve your self-abilities, but you also accumulate life experiences. In the meantime, I understand the differences between different cultures more profoundly. Seeing is believing! I hope that in the near future more and more talented people will come here to expand their worldview and knowledge!
